Desire gets a bad reputation. It’s treated as something to temper, manage or feel guilty about. But I’d like to make a case for it being one of the best things about being human.
Desire is aliveness. When you feel genuine desire, whether for a person, an experience, a creative project or a life that doesn’t exist yet, you are receiving a very clear signal that something matters to you.

I find desire genuinely exciting to sit with, in myself and with others. I genuinely adore watching someone reconnect with what they actually want. It’s not just about the wanting. It’s about what the wanting tells you. Your desires, sexual or otherwise, are a map of who you are and point toward your values, your needs and your edges. Following them, even tentatively, tends to lead somewhere fantastic.
Desire, welcomed and supported, has a way of making people more themselves. More honest, more present, more alive to what they actually need. It’s one of the most connective and human forces you have.
So consider this a small reminder that your desires are worth listening to.
